Delicate Offense

Delicate Offense is a glass jewellery collection inspired by the origin story of the Chinese term for “Contradiction”, “矛盾 (máo dùn)”. The story is one from ancient China where a weapon peddler claimed that his spear(矛) could pierce through everything and boasted that nothing could penetrate through his shield(盾). When asked by a wise customer what would happen when his spear struck the shield, the once proud seller did not have an answer.

A marriage between sturdy weapons and brittle glass, Delicate Offense contradicts the impression that weapons are supposed to be made highly durable. What was once a tool to defend or to bring harm to others is so brittle that it can hardly be effective and can potentially injure oneself.

The jewellery collection features a handpiece inspired by the Bagh Nakh and a necklace inspired by the Kusari.

The aposematic Ring-necked snake slithers round your neck in the form of a Kusari - a traditional Japanese weapon.

Also known as the "Tiger Claw", the Bagh Nakh from India conceals its claws beneath the palm but it is as lethal as a Poison Dart Frog.

Colours from aposematic frogs and snakes are borrowed as they are a sort of weapon for them against their predators.
